Crane lifting heavy project cargo at a construction site

INDUSTRY

EPC & Project Cargo Logistics

ODC and heavy-lift movement planned route by route, to site and on schedule.

OVERVIEW

How we serve epc & infrastructure projects.

Project cargo does not fit the network — the network has to be shaped around it. Transformers, vessels, boilers, mill sections and cranes need surveyed routes, statutory permits, correct trailers and lifting arranged at both ends.

Petrobulk coordinates ODC and heavy-lift movement for EPC contractors and equipment suppliers: sea or air leg, port handling, inland route survey, permits, escorts and delivery onto a site that may not have a paved approach.

Sector challenges

  • Route feasibility

Bridge capacity, overhead lines, turning radii and gradients decide whether a route exists at all.

  • Permits across states

Multi-state ODC movement needs sequential approvals that take time to line up.

  • Lifting at both ends

Cranes, load spreading and ground bearing have to be planned before the cargo arrives.

  • Schedule interlock

A late module stalls erection sequences and downstream contractor commitments.

How we solve it

  • Physical route surveys

Pre-move surveys covering structures, clearances and site approach, with obstacles documented.

  • Permit management

State-wise ODC permits and escort arrangements handled by our documentation team.

  • Mode selection per module

Sea, air, road or rail chosen per module against dimensions, weight and required-on-site date.

  • Site-ready delivery

Trailers, craneage and access preparation coordinated with the site team ahead of arrival.

CASE IN POINT

Required-on-site date drives the plan.

Every module is scheduled backwards from its erection date, so mode and route decisions are made against the construction sequence rather than against the cheapest available freight.

FAQs

Do you handle ODC and over-height cargo?

Yes. We run pre-move route surveys and arrange the appropriate hydraulic axles and low-bed trailers.

Who obtains the state permits?

Our documentation team handles state-wise ODC permits and escort coordination end to end.

Can you arrange chartered vessels or aircraft?

Yes — chartering for heavy-lift sea movement and air charter where a module is genuinely schedule-critical.

Do you deliver to remote project sites?

Yes. Access preparation, craneage and ground-bearing requirements are coordinated with the site team before arrival.
